What distinguishes the FORMAT plastic drill from other drills?
With an 80° tip grinding, the particularly sharp tip is much sharper than e.B drills for metal. This special shape ensures perfect centering, which guarantees a clean and straight immersion into the material.
The lateral cutting edges correspond to the drill type H. The side chip angle is particularly low, the "elongated spiral" works better in plastics and other brittle materials than standard drills.
The heat development is thus minimized, the surface of the borehole remains smooth and visually high-quality. At the same time, the special side chip angle produces a craping more than cutting action, which prevents cracking, for example in acrylic glass.
How is the drill made?
The FORMAT plastic drill is made of high-performance high-speed steel(HSS), an alloyed steel that has a particularly long service life.
The wide flutes are ground and therefore particularly smooth. The shape and surface ensure particularly good chip removal.
What else is the FORMAT plastic drill suitable for?
In addition to plastics such as acrylic glass, hard plastics, laminates etc., the drill is also suitable for brittle materials such as copper or brass.
